Women in the Environment, a.k.a. WE, was established in 2005 as a networking organization for women working in environmental fields in the private, NGO and public sectors. The first event was held in conjunction with a South Florida Water Management District Everglades Conference and had participation of over 100 women, from senior agency and industry leaders to entry level biologists and engineers.
Our mission is to create a community to advance women in environmental fields through personal and professional development. The areas we target include active networking, promoting healthy lifestyles, finding an delivering education opportunities, highlighting women’s issues, and strengthening our member’s environmental ethic.
The core of our efforts focuses on networking events. These events are designed to allow for networking among event participants, a light dinner, and open dialogues with a key panel of successful women. The panelists target their comments toward personal and professional challenges that they have faced, as well as solutions they use, in their pursuit for success. We end with a Q&A session that allows you to target specific areas of interest.
The original networking effort has been expanded to include this on-line tool and training opportunities to help you increase your network, find a mentor, locate assistance in specific skill areas, strengthen your marketability, and learn from other women. We hope you will join our organization and help us keep improving resources that can help us all.
